Kim Sae Ron’s family is now speaking up, determined to uncover the truth and defend her legacy. On March 17, 2025, Kwon Young Chan, head of the Korean Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association, held a press conference at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. He addressed a legal complaint filed against YouTuber Lee Jin Ho and actor Kim Soo Hyun, revealing new details about the situation.

During the conference, Kwon Young Chan presented Kim Sae Ron’s personal diary, which reportedly contains detailed records of her relationship with Kim Soo Hyun. According to the diary, the two began dating on November 19, 2015, when Kim Sae Ron was in her second year of middle school. Their relationship is said to have lasted until July 7, 2021, marking six years together.

Kim Se Ui, head of the Garosero Research Institute, questioned the diary’s authenticity but pointed out that the exact dates documented make it hard to dismiss. He stated, “She recorded the dates of their relationship for six years. For Kim Soo Hyun to remain silent all this time and only now speak up—it’s completely unjust.”

The controversy began when YouTuber Lee Jin Ho claimed Kim Sae Ron fabricated the dating rumours. He released a video suggesting she made up the relationship, which led to backlash. In response, Kim Sae Ron’s family filed a complaint, stating the video was defamatory and misrepresented the truth.

Adding to the discussion, Sports Kyunghyang reported that Kim Se Ui mentioned Kim Sae Ron wrote an additional post about their six-year relationship, complete with dates. However, she ultimately chose not to make it public.

Kim Sae Ron previously posted a picture on Instagram with Kim Soo Hyun, where they appeared close, but she deleted it shortly after. Instead of sharing publicly, she reportedly confided in her mother, aunt, and cousin through KakaoTalk messages, saying, "I was going to post this, but I didn’t." These messages, alongside her diary entries, are now being presented as evidence by her family.

Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, GOLDMEDALIST, denied the allegations. The agency claimed that Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron only dated between 2019 and the fall of 2020, refuting the six-year timeline recorded in the diary. The agency in 2024 had denied the relationship between Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun.
