Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, on March 14, 2025, released an official statement to clear up misunderstandings surrounding his alleged involvement in Kim Sae Ron’s financial troubles. The statement came after Korean media reported on a text message Kim Sae Ron had sent him, asking for help.

Gold Medalist explained that the financial issue was strictly between the agency and Kim Sae Ron. The agency clarified that Kim Soo Hyun had no personal involvement in the debt and was never in a position to lend her money or demand repayment. The company emphasized that any claims suggesting otherwise are entirely false.

The statement detailed that in early 2024, during an accounting audit, Gold Medalist had to address Kim Sae Ron’s debt. Legal and financial experts advised the agency that writing off the debt without formal procedures could lead to legal issues for the company’s executives. To prevent this, the agency issued a formal notice to confirm her financial situation and write off the debt legally. Gold Medalist also revealed that Kim Soo Hyun was advised to avoid responding to Kim Sae Ron’s message. Since the two had been separated for four years, and he had no knowledge of her financial struggles, the agency stepped in to handle the matter. They advised him that without proper legal understanding, responding could create misunderstandings or worsen the situation. The agency reassured him they would manage the issue professionally.

The statement further explained that on March 26, 2024, Kim Sae Ron’s legal representatives acknowledged Gold Medalist’s support and confirmed her willingness to discuss her debts. She proposed a repayment plan, leading to a resolution where the agency decided not to demand repayment. Additionally, the agency ensured she wouldn’t face extra tax burdens by waiving late fees and setting the interest at zero.

Gold Medalist strongly denied accusations that Kim Soo Hyun ignored her plea for help out of indifference. Instead, they clarified that he was not in a position to intervene in a legal and financial dispute he wasn’t involved in. His decision to stay out of the matter wasn’t personal but was based on professional advice to avoid legal missteps.

The agency also addressed the tragic speculation linking Kim Sae Ron’s passing, which occurred a year later, to the financial dispute. They emphasized that such claims are unfounded and distressing. Gold Medalist stated they supported her throughout the process and even waived repayment to ease her financial burden.
