A handwritten letter by the late actress Kim Sae Ron to her late friend, ASTRO’s Moonbin, has been made public, offering a heartbreaking glimpse into her grief and struggles. The letter, written in 2023, was shared by the Garo Sero Research Institute and reveals her deep sorrow over Moonbin’s passing.

In her letter, Kim Sae Ron opens up about how she considered ending her life but decided against it after hearing about Moonbin’s tragic passing. She expresses regret for not reaching out to him on the day he passed away, wondering if a single call could have postponed his decision even for a day.

According to Koreaboo, Kim wrote:

“I tried to choose death because things were so difficult, but then I heard news about you. I know better than anyone just how scary and lonely that decision must’ve been, so I can’t bear to ask you why.”

She reminisces about their friendship, which dates back to their childhood when they both started as actors. She also reflects on the immense burden they both carried in their careers and how they often kept their struggles hidden from one another.

Kim Sae Ron also talks about the impact of Moonbin’s death on ASTRO’s members, describing how Cha Eunwoo broke down, Jinjin and MJ tried to stay strong, and how Sanha promised to protect her. She shares her resolve to “postpone” her own suffering and continue living to be there for Moonbin’s sister, Moon Sua, and the other members.

“I’ve decided to postpone my death, just a little, because I have to protect Sua and the other members.”

Toward the end of her letter, Kim Sae Ron expresses her pain and frustration with the media and her personal struggles. Despite everything, she offers her final farewell to Moonbin with immense love and respect, writing:

“Rest in peace, Bin. If it’s the path that you’ve taken, wherever it is, I’m sure it’s shining and bright. I respect all your choices and I am cheering you on. I’m sorry for not being able to compliment you endlessly and for not being able to hug you. I love you. See you soon. Wait for me.”

Kim Sae Ron and Moonbin shared an 18-year-long friendship, supporting each other through their careers. His passing on April 19, 2023, deeply affected her and her letter is a testament to the deep bond they shared.
