Laapataa Ladies On OTT: Kiran Rao’s directorial has been officially sent for the Oscars 2025. The story of the movie was set against the backdrop of rural India in the 2000s. The comedy-drama was released in theatres on March 1, 2024, but it could not leave a mark at the box office. The net collection of the movie stands at Rs 20.58 crore. Whereas, the worldwide collection of Laapataa Ladies is Rs 27.06 crore. 

About Laapataa Ladies 

The story revolves around two brides who are about to go to their inlaws' house after marriage with their respective husbands. But the tragedy comes in their lives when they are lost on the same train. Their husbands could not recognise them as they were in long veils wearing the same colour of wedding outfits. It then focuses on how their lives change after the mishap. The movie stars Nitanshi Goel (Phool Kumari), Pratibha Ranta (Jaya), Sparsh Shrivastav (Deepak Kumar), Ravi Kishan (Shyam Manohar), Chhaya Kadam (Manju Maai), Satendra Soni, Durgesh Kumar and Geeta Agrawal Sharma in key roles. 

Laapataa Ladies Movie Review

Jagran English has given a positive verdict to Kiran Rao’s directorial and gave four stars to the movie. In the review, it wrote “Laapataa Ladies dips its fingers into sour social issues but leaves a delightful taste. It highlights the follies of ghoonghat and questions the 'parda' system but never gets preachy. It is a must-watch clean family film that forces you to think but enjoy it even more. Kiran Rao once again manages to bring attention to the deep-rooted Indian reality by keeping the tone playful and upbeat. This is the biggest strength of Laapataa Ladies!”
