Aamir Khan is beaming with pride as his son Junaid Khan gears up for his next film, Loveyapa. The movie also marks the big-screen debut of Khushi Kapoor (who made her OTT debut with Netflix's The Archies in 2023) and the Dangal actor couldn’t be happier with their performances. Speaking to Zoom, Aamir expressed his admiration for the young actors, saying, “I think they have both done really well in Loveyapa. But then, I am Junaid’s father, hence a highly interested party.”

When asked about his objectivity, Aamir added with a smile, “I try to be unbiased, but I repeat, I think they both have done really well.”

Directed by Advait Chandan and produced by Madhu Mantena and Shristi Behl, Loveyapa is a remake of the Tamil hit Love Today (2022). The rom-com explores modern relationships with a humorous twist. The story revolves around a couple, played by Junaid and Khushi, who are asked by the girl’s father, portrayed by Ashutosh Rana, to exchange their phones for a day.

As secrets unravel through the phone swap, the couple discovers hidden truths about each other, leading to hilarious and heartwarming moments. The film’s premise highlights the complexities of contemporary love, making it relatable and entertaining for audiences. Junaid Khan, much like his father, is selective about his projects. His debut film, Maharaj, released on Netflix, showcased him as a reformist exposing a fraudulent godman. With Loveyapa, Junaid ventures into a lighter genre, displaying his versatility as an actor.

Apart from Junaid and Khushi, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Ashutosh Rana, Tanvika Parlikar, Kiku Sharda, Devishi Mandan, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Nikhil Mehta, Jason Tham, Yunus Khan, Yuktam Kholsa and Kunj Anand. Loveyapa is set to hit theatres on February 7, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
