Maharaja Box Office Collection China (27 Days): The Tamil action-drama film Maharaja, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap, continues its stellar run at the Chinese box office. Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, the movie has successfully crossed the Rs 91 crore mark in just 27 days, setting a new benchmark for Indian films in the Chinese market.
Released on November 29, 2024, Maharaja has been captivating audiences with its gripping storyline and powerful performances. The film follows the journey of a barber who seeks justice for his daughter, taking an unconventional path to expose a shocking truth about the perpetrator.
Box Office Journey in China
Maharaja opened with strong collections, earning Rs 5.40 crore (USD 0.64 million) during its premiere shows. The momentum continued over its opening weekend, with Day 1 and Day 2 collections at Rs 4.60 crore (USD 0.54 million) and Rs 9.30 crore (USD 1.10 million), respectively as per Sacnilk. By the end of the first week, the film had grossed Rs 40.75 crore (USD 4.82 million). In its second and third weeks, the collections remained steady, bringing in Rs 32.75 crore (USD 3.85 million) and Rs 12.25 crore (USD 1.45 million), respectively.
During its fourth week, Maharaja maintained its pace, adding Rs 5.70 crore (USD 0.67 million) to its total. On Day 27, the film earned Rs 0.60 crore (USD 0.07 million), taking its cumulative gross to Rs 91.20 crore (USD 10.68 million).

The film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Sachana Nimidass, Divyabharathi and Abhirami in pivotal roles. Maharaja joins the ranks of Indian films like Dangal, 3 Idiots and Secret Superstar, which have previously performed exceptionally well in China. Fans look forward to the Tamil movie crossing the coveted Rs 100 crore mark in China.
