Manisha Koirala made her acting debut with Bollywood movie Subhash Ghai's 1991 film Saudagar. Since then there has been no looking back for the actress. Initially in her career, Manisha was often considered Madhuri Dixit’s lookalike. She shared that in the beginning, she wasn’t flattered but her perception changed afterwards. The actress also called Madhuri ‘so beautiful’ and ‘so graceful’. Manisha stated that she was a ‘rebel’ when she debuted in the industry.

In an interview with ANI, Manisha said “Honestly, those days, I wasn't flattered. But today, I am. Because she is so beautiful. She is so graceful. And not only that, she is a wonderful woman. As a person, I just love her. And it was quite an honour.” She also called herself ‘rebel’ when she came into the industry. The actress further suggested that she walked in a different direction which people suggested to her.

After a decade, she shared the screen space with Dixit in the 2001 movie Lajja. She added, “By then, I had also matured. My eyes had opened and I was seeing, my goodness, such a humble person. Super talented and so beautiful.”

Manisha further shared that Madhuri Dixit recommended her name to Ghai for her debut movie Saudagar. She further added, “She is marvellous. I love her. Also, the fact that later on, I got to know that she had recommended my name. She had seen me in Rakesh Shrestha's photoshoot. And she had actually told Subhash (Ghai) Ji that I've seen one girl, ‘You should see her for Saudagar’. That’s how Subhash Ji called for my photograph from Rakesh Shrestha.”

“Saudagar was a good experience. I was too young, too naive, right out of my 12th standard. I was 18 or 19 with no exposure to life, no exposure to anything. I was very fearful. I was very scared. I wanted to keep everybody at a distance,” she concluded.

Manisha Koirala was last seen in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The web series also features Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal Mehta, Farida Jalal, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman in key roles. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
