Meg 2: The Trench OTT Release Date: The worldwide theatrical release of 'Meg 2: The Trench,' the sequel to the 2018 hit, 'The Meg', took place with Jason Statham in the lead role on August 3. The film series, loosely based on Steve Alten's novel series 'Meg: A Novel Of Deep Terror' for 'The Meg' and 'The Trench' for 'Meg 2: The Trench', revolves around a group of oceanographers who stumble upon the existence of prehistoric Megalodons, believed to be extinct. This leads to an epic man vs. monster battle, and the outcome is no surprise.

Following the massive success of 'The Meg,' which earned $530 million globally, 'Meg 2: The Trench' has now hit the theatres. However, it faces stiff competition from Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' and Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer,' both of which are still performing well at the box office. With a budget of around $185 million, 'Meg 2: The Trench’ enjoyed a strong opening in international markets, but its performance at the domestic US box office has been lacklustre.

Monster movies with impressive visual effects are undoubtedly best experienced on the big screen. However, there is a significant audience that prefers the convenience of streaming these films from the comfort of their homes. So, the question arises, where will ‘Meg 2: The Trench’ be available to stream on OTT after its theatrical run? As of now, ‘The Meg,’ the previous film in the series, can be found on Amazon Prime Video, but only on rental basis.

However, now that Warner Bros Pictures content is available in India through JioCinema, the question arises whether 'Meg 2: The Trench' will be included in its subscription package. There are speculations that the film might choose a different route and opt for a streaming platform with a global subscription base, such as Netflix. As of now, 'Meg 2: The Trench' still has a considerable journey ahead at the box office to reach the point of breaking even.
