Mrs Movie Backlash: Mrs. by Sanya Malhotra examines how women can feel oppressed by the patriarchal system, and it goes without saying that some men's activism groups are losing their minds. In addition to Sanya Malhotra's outstanding performance, I thought the movie was great for bringing up a socially relevant issue. However, in a shocking turn of events, the Save Indian Family Foundation's (SIFF) tweet started the whole 'boycott Sanya Malhotra' trend because the movie apparently promoted toxic feminism.

SIFF described the 8–9 hours that men work at factories, courts, police stations, railroad stations, airports, construction sites, restaurants and the nation's borders. It further stated that 'a happy young woman cooking food, doing dishes and pressing clothes of her father-in-law is oppression for her.'

People grew up believing that men work outdoors in settings such as construction, heavy labour and battle. Women, on the other hand, have traditionally been responsible for cooking, cleaning and taking care of the home. So when Sanya Malhotra's movie questions these outdated believes, many begin to see it as a threat to the patriarchy.

Do you recall how Animal's overt display of toxic masculinity caused the internet to lose minds when it was released? There were accusations that the movie glorified misogyny and patriarchy. Remember when the same segment said - 'Relax, it’s just a movie!' It is rather ironic to see the same audience go crazy over Sanya Malhotra's most recent movie, Mrs.

Why Animals And Kabir Singhs Are Glorified?

Animal director pushed it to the next level with Ranbir Kapoor starrer after his earlier movie, Arjun Reddy and its Hindi version, Kabir Singh, were criticised for being misogynistic. Problem with a movie like Animal is how it addresses these topics and glorifies male chauvinism.

Animal was and will be a radical film which refered to men like Ranvijay as 'alpha' males and 'celebrate' them. Now when Ranbir Kapoor's character pulls his wife's bra straps to trouble her or asks another lady to kiss his shoe to show that she 'loves' him, the movie's romantic background score makes his intentions obvious.

Even though this movie is problematic from the start, it nevertheless manages to look fascinating, right? The 'critics' who slam a movie like Mrs. will sure celebrate an Animal because even violence in the movie seems filled with swag, and we all love that, don't we? Even if the director's viewpoint is solely reflected in the poorly written female characters, the movie did a great job with its banger tracks, right?

Animal promises to disprove your notion that Kabir Singh (2019) was always associated with violence, sexism, abuse and toxicity by going over and above to convey even more problematic aspects in the new one.

Animals is aggressive, gory, destructive, unsettling, toxic, excessive and illogical in everything it tries to deliver.

Why Sanya Malhotra's Mrs Strike A Nerve?

Richa (Sanya Malhotra) is energetic, self-reliant and a skilled dancer. She first seemed to be embarking on a lovely adventure with her marriage to Diwakar (Nishant Dahiya), a reputable gynaecologist. However, there is another reality that lies beneath the surface. Even though he works in a modern field, he is an orthodox man.

Richa separated from her husband, who was a stereotypically patriarchal man who didn't know how to treat women because he had been raised to believe that women needed to fulfil specific household tasks in order to be good moms and wives.

When you watch the movie, you'll eventually see that Diwaker's background kept him from reflecting on himself; thus, he thought he was always right and that Richa was just not doing a good job as a housewife.

Diwakar's transition from an apparently devoted husband to a man who dehumanizes his wife is horrifying, not because it happens all at once, but rather because it happens so excruciatingly gradually. The problem is that he portrays a regular guy who is a reflection of many dads and sons who unwittingly support oppressive cycles in the name of tradition.

Mrs highlights the oppressive and outdated gender stereotypes that have long pervaded Indian culture. The movie teaches us it's time to change the way things are done, even though traditional methods have their reasons. Sanya Malhotra's movie emphasises the significance of treating our sons and daughters equally.

If a male using violence to claim power is only 'cinema,' then a woman opposing patriarchy shouldn't be perceived as a threat. Actually, the discomfort isn't about the movie, it’s about what it reveals.
