Mrunal Thakur, who recently attended IIFA 2024 in Abu Dhabi, reacted to ongoing criticism about Ranbir Kapoor doing Animal. The Sita Ramam actress defended the actor and said that everybody should appreciate the craft of Ranbir as he can do both kinds of roles like he did in Barfi and in Animal. She also said that the audience should celebrate movies. Her positive reaction went viral and created a buzz on social media. 

While interacting with the press at the green carpet of IIFA 2024, Mrunal said “We need to understand that it is the character we are resonating and connecting with. Let’s not forget that Ranbir is also the actor who played Barfi. Why can’t we appreciate that an actor can do roles like Animal and Barfi. Just celebrate films, if you like it, great, if you don’t like it, maybe next time.” 

As her statement went viral, netizens appreciated the actress. A user wrote, “Well said Queen.” A fan commented, “I can’t wait for her collaboration with RK. I look forward to them than any other actress atm.” A tweet read, “animal park mrunal thakur we'll be there.” Another fan tweeted, “She is so soft spoken.” 

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial Animal was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2023 as it earned over Rs 900 crore. The movie showcases Ranbir Kapoor in an aggressive role which became a centre of criticism. It also starred Tripti Dimri, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Saloni Batra, Charu Shankar, Anil Kapoor and Saurabh Sachdeva in key roles. It was released in theatres on December 1, 2024. 

On the other hand, Mrunal will be next seen in Vishwambhara. The movie also features Trisha Krishnan, Chiranjeevi, Janhvi Kapoor, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ashika Ranganath and Kunal Kapoor in key roles. The film is scheduled to be released in theatres on January 10, 2024.
