Nagarjuna Akkineni is set to join the cast of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s highly anticipated film Coolie. The actor, known for his versatile roles in Indian cinema, will be seen playing the character Simon in the film. Lokesh Kanagaraj shared the first look of Nagarjuna as Simon on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his excitement about having the actor on board. Kanagaraj's tweet read, "Kicked to have King @iamnagarjuna sir joining the cast of #Coolie as #Simon. Welcome on board and wishing you a very happy birthday sir."

In response, Nagarjuna expressed his eagerness to work with Kanagaraj, stating, “Thank uuuu Loki, I hv been wanting to work with you since Kaithi!!! Absolutely excited for our journey ahead @Dir_Lokesh. Looking forward to be sharing screenspace with the Thalaivar!!”

Coolie also stars Rajinikanth and Shruti Haasan, and is produced by Kalanidhi Maran's Sun Pictures. The film has already created a buzz with its star-studded cast, including Soubin Shahir and Sathyaraj, who reunites with Rajinikanth after several years. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and Girish Ganadharan handles the cinematography. Coolie is scheduled for a theatrical release next year.

In addition to Coolie, Nagarjuna is working on Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera, a Telugu-Tamil project featuring Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh. The actor’s recent film, Naa Saami Ranga, was released during Sankranthi this year.
