120 Bahadur: The Delhi High Court gave its go-ahead to Farhan Akhtar’s movie, 120 Bahadur, ahead of its release by dismissing the plea challenging its CBC certification. The plea claimed the film distorted historical facts. The High Court stated that it is too late to change the title and release date of the film. It also mentioned that the makers of the film have added the names of the soldiers at the end of the movie in the form of a special tribute.
As reported by PTI, a bench of Justices Prathiba M Singh and Shail Jain disposed of the petition after counsel for the petitioner said it is acceptable if the title of the film is not changed. The bench of two judges said, “However, since there is some ambiguity as to whether the names of all the 120 soldiers have been mentioned or not, it is directed that the film is permitted to be released in theatres as it is on Friday across the country. It is made clear that even for the OTT release, only the names of the soldiers, along with the proper regiment, will be mentioned.”
The Delhi High Court was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) by a charitable trust, Sanyukt Ahir Regiment Morcha, its trustee and family members of soldiers who were martyred in the Battle of Rezang La. They challenged the CBFC certification given to 120 Bahadur. They alleged that the film distorted historical facts and demanded a change in the film’s name.

Notably, the plea was listed before a bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedel, which did not assemble and the matter was then posted for hearing on November 26 (Wednesday). When the hearing happened, no one from the petitioners’ side appeared before the court. However, seeing the urgency of the movie’s release, the petitioner’s counsel got it listed for today itself.
As per the official premise, the movie is set to focus on valiant Indian soldiers who fight against Chinese troops during the 1962 Sino-Indian War. It prevented a potential occupation of the Ladakh region in the battle of Rezang La. 120 Bahadur stars Farhan Akhtar, Raashii Khanna, Ankit Siwach, Vivan Bhatena, Ajinkya Deo and Ashutosh Shukla in key roles. It has been directed by Razneesh Ghai. The movie is set to be released in theatres on November 21.
