Abhinav Kashyap has once again set Bollywood abuzz after generating headlines for his explosive claims about Salman Khan. This time, the filmmaker has made some interesting revelations about Ranbir Kapoor during the making of the 2013 movie Besharam. Abhinav Kashyap's action-comedy movie assembled a stellar cast with Ranbir Kapoor as the car thief Babli, the legendary Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, who portrayed a comical cop couple Inspectors Chulbul and Bulbul Chautala and actress Pallavi Sharda.

Dabangg director recently recalled his shooting days from the sets of Besharam. During a recent interview with Bollywood Thikana, the director revealed that during the casting of Besharam, he faced significant pressure from the leading hero of the movie, Ranbir Kapoor, to cast his then-girlfriend, Katrina Kaif. He also recounted the similar pressure given to him by Salman Khan during the shoot of Dabangg to cast his then-girlfriend, Katrina Kaif.

The filmmaker shared, “No, Ranbir had asked me, ‘She wants to do the film, so consider her’. I said, ‘She is not right for the part, I need a Punjaban from Delhi’. Katrina needed to work on her accent, and I wouldn’t have been able to hide it. If you see, all of her films before then had to make it clear that she was either an NRI or a foreigner, because she couldn’t speak in Hindi. It was either that she had studied abroad or that she was living abroad.” Abhinav Kashyap also mentioned that he has never had any problem with Katrina Kaif, and he has even told her that whenever he casts for an NRI role, he will first come to her.

Further, he expressed that his first choice for the leading actress was Sonakshi Sinha, but the Barfi actor refused to work with her. “It was a coveted role, and many actors reached out to me. I wanted to cast Sonakshi initially, but Ranbir said, ‘Not Sonakshi, I’m not comfortable with her’. Now, the reason behind his discomfort you’ll have to ask him. I told him that I wasn’t comfortable with Katrina,” he explained.

Eventually, the role went to Pallavi Sharda, who once appeared in a small role in My Name Is Khan. Abhinav Kashyap candidly discussed how people even linked him with Pallavi, as they could not digest the fact that a newcomer could grab such a big role. He mentioned that after auditioning several actresses like Taapsee Pannu, Parineeti Chopra, Tamannaah Bhatia, Swara Bhasker and others, Pallavi earned the role.
