The Kerala Story director Sudipto Sen has taken a strong stance against the recent Filmfare Awards 2025. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the outcome on his Instagram account, calling the event a 'tamasha' in the name of cinema and criticising the jury's selections. The Daily Jagran reached out to Adah Sharma to take her two cents about the entire episode. The actor who wasn't aware about the filmmaker's rant claimed that the Filmfare Awards' editor already hated their movie.
Adah Sharma said, "I think everyone is allowed to have their opinion. I know that the editor of Filmfare had written an Instagram post when we got the National Award, saying that he hated The Kerala Story and it was a horrible movie and he had strong words to say about it. We live in a country where everyone can have their opinion, so, he didn't like it."
Adah Sharma also reflected to the conflicting responses to The Kerala Story, stating that some people connected with it and even said it transformed their life, while others didn't. Somewhere in between, she also hinted at how award shows work — they honour whoever they wish to. There’s no fixed rule, at least not one she’s aware of, that the award must go to the film that earned the most or was celebrated by everyone.

Adah Sharma added, "It's a film that is asking you to have that opinion. It's not a film jahan par, it's just laughter and entertainment. It is a film which will evoke anger in you, it will evoke some emotion."
The actor highlighted that she mistakenly missed her director's Instagram post, which isn't usually the case.
