Alia Bhatt was all set to make her red carpet debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The actress was scheduled to fly over the weekend and make an appearance at the French Riviera tonight, but according to a report by Mid-Day, she has made a last minute decision not to leave at this time due to the current circumstances in India. The news is yet to be confirmed by the actress’ team.

A source close to Mid-Day, told the portal, “The festival is 11 days long. Of course, there were several activities planned around her today and tomorrow, but she is still contemplating if she can make it in the coming days. It will also depend on her schedule back home.”

Earlier, the Raazi actress had shown excitement for her Cannes’ debut. “There's something absolutely special about firsts — and I'm so excited to make my Festival de Cannes debut this year, an iconic celebration of cinema and self-expression,” said Alia in a statement.

She further added, “It is such an honour to represent L'Oréal Paris at the Festival with this year's theme, ‘Lights, Beauty and Action'. To me, beauty is about celebrating individuality, confidence and self worth. It's limitless, it's unique. I'm proud to stand with a brand that celebrates every woman's journey and empowers them to shine in their own light.”

About Cannes Film Festival: Cannes organisers have announced a new dress code that attendees must follow at the gala screenings at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.

“For the Grand Theatre Lumiere gala screenings taking place around 7 and 10 PM, which are attended by the artistic teams, evening wear (long dress, tuxedo) is required. Alternatively, you may also wear ‘a little black dress’, a cocktail dress, a dark-colored pantsuit, a dressy top with black pants; elegant shoes and sandals with or without a heel (no sneakers); a black or navy-blue suit with bow-tie or dark-coloured tie,” the official account of Cannes Film Festival stated.
