Chandra Barot Death: The death of veteran filmmaker Chandra Barot, known for delivering classic films like Don, has left the entire industry in shock. He breathed his last on Sunday in Mumbai at the age of 86. He had been suffering from pulmonary fibrosis for the past seven years, as confirmed by his wife Deepa Barot. Amitabh Bachchan, who worked with the filmmaker, mourned his demise and shared how he considered him more of a family friend than a professional associate.
Amitabh Bachchan Mourns Don Director's Demise
Amitabh took to his blog and penned an emotional note, stating, “Another and another sad moment." The actor continued, "Dear dear friend and my director of DON - Chandra Barot passed away this morning … It is difficult to put in words the loss .. we worked together yes, but he was more a family friend than any else .. I can only pray."
The film Don, starring Amitabh Bachchan in a dual role, was released on May 12, 1978. It became a massive hit and gained a status of cult, thanks to its compelling storyline, catchy dialogues, powerful performance and evergreen songs.

After Barot's demise, Farhan Akhtar, who revived the hit franchise in 2006, also paid his last respect with a heartfelt message on social media. Check out his post below:

Chandra Barot Cause Of Death
This sad news of his passing away was confirmed by his wife Deepa Barot. She also revealed that he had not been keeping well for a while. In a statement to TOI, Deepa Barot stated, “He had been battling pulmonary fibrosis for the past seven years." Chandra Barot was undergoing treatment at Guru Nanak Hospital and had also been admitted to Jaslok Hospital earlier.

Chandra Barot’s Legacy
Chandra Barot entered the film industry as an assistant director but he rose to fame after getting a big break in 1978 when he helmed Don, a film that created history in Indian cinema. His movie also inspired adaptations and remakes. He went on to deliver films such as Ashrita, Hum Baja Bajaa Denge, Pyar Bhara Dil and others. He has left an impactful mark on the film industry with his notable work.
