Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming movie Sardaar Ji 3, earlier slated to hit Indian theatres on June 27, will now release internationally only. The movie had sparked controversy due to speculation about the involvement of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The recently unveiled teaser featured Hania and Diljit romancing, putting an end to all the rumours. The teaser has drawn significant backlash among netizens over the casting of a Pakistani actress following the recent Pahalgam terror attack. For the unversed, India had previously reinforced its ban on Pakistani artists and content across all platforms, including OTT and social media, in the wake of the attack, which subsequently restricted Indian access to Pakistani artists' social media profiles.
Now The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has demanded strong action against actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh and the makers of his upcoming Punjabi movie Sardaar Ji 3 for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The film body has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling for Dosanjh, producers Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu, along with director Amar Hundal, to be blacklisted from the Indian film industry. Furthermore, the FWICE has requested for their passports to be revoked and the cancellation of their Indian citizenship.

FWICE issued a powerful statement and mentioned, “The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) expresses its strongest condemnation and absolute outrage against actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, Gunbir Singh Sidhu, Manmord Sidhu and director Amar Hundal, who have brazenly insulted the Indian film industry and disrespected national sentiment by hiring Pakistani actress Ms Hania Aamir for their upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3… We respectfully urge that their passports be revoked without delay and that they be permanently barred from availing any rights, privileges, or representation associated with Indian citizenship and national identity."

In the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, the film body strongly criticised the casting of Hania Aamir, deeming it "a shameful betrayal of our country and its people". They further asserted that the Pakistani actress' inclusion directly violated their ban on Pakistani artists.

FWICE has further stated that Hania Aamir is a “vocal propagandist against India”, alleging that she mocked the Indian armed forces and supported terrorism following Operation Sindoor. In response, FWICE appealed to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on Tuesday, requesting that Sardaar Ji 3 be denied a release certificate in India.

Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming movie Border 2 has also come under scrutiny with the controversy around Sardaarji 3. Many fans have come forward to criticise his inclusion in the patriotic movie, as it fosters a sense of belongingness for India.
