Sunjay Kapur, the leader of the enormous auto parts company Sona Comstar, accidentally swallowed a bee while playing polo and passed away in UK. The attention is now turning to the future of the businessman's huge wealth following the cremation ceremony on Wednesday.   According to Bloomberg, the 57-year old businessman was instrumental in turning his late father, Dr. Surinder Kapur,'s business into a global empire. He assisted Sona Comstar in reaching a market valuation of Rs 31,000 crore (about $4 billion) since assuming control of the business in 2015. Forbes valued his personal worth at Rs 10,300 crore ($1.2 billion) at the time of his passing.

As condolences for Sunjay Kapur keep coming in, the focus has now turned to the unavoidable question - Who gets his estimated fortune of Rs 10,300 crore ($1.2 billion)?

Sanjay Kapur's Legal Heirs

Sanjay Kapur leaves behind a possibly controversial estate and a complicated family tree. Samaira (20) and Kian (14) from his second marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor, as well as six-year-old Azariyas from his third and present marriage to Priya Sachdev. The primary heir is generally considered to be Sunjay Kapur's current wife, model-actor Priya Sachdev, with whom he has been married since 2017. According to the Hindustan Times, she is entitled to receive the fortune under the present inheritance laws unless a will specifies otherwise.

What Does Indian Law Say?

Indian inheritance law further complicates the scenario that is unfolding. Children are entitled to a share of their father's assets under the Hindu Succession Act of 1956, regardless of the parents' marital status at the time of their deaths. According to family sources, no official confirmation of a legally created will has been provided, despite the fact that it can take precedence over customary inheritance regulations.

If there is a will, it may specify particular distributions, maybe even leaving out some heirs. Without one, however, the wealth would be divided among his surviving spouse, Priya Sachdev, and all of his biological children as well as his legal heirs.

Most people believe that Priya Sachdev will be the main benefactor of his estate. In addition to being the mother of his youngest son, Azariyas, she was also his spouse when he passed away. Law enforcement views her as having a solid claim to the late tycoon's riches. It's unclear if Samaira and Kian will get a bigger share of Kapur's business and personal fortune; this could rely on whether or not a will is legal.
