Cannes Film Festival 2026 Dates

After leaving a memorable mark with the 78th Cannes Film Festival, the French Association of the International Film Festival has now announced the dates for the next gala.

The post of the Cannes read, "We already know the dates for #Cannes2026. SAVE THE DATE: the Festival de Cannes will be back for its 79th edition from May 12 to 23, 2026."

This announcement comes just under three weeks after the 78th edition of the festival wrapped up, where Jafar Panahi's It Was Just An Accident took home the prestigious Palme d'Or, marking a triumphant return to the festival for the Iranian filmmaker, who hadn't attended in person for 22 years.

Indian Celebs At Cannes 2025

India left a remarkable mark at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, from actors walking the red carpet in their standout outfits to the screening of Indian films. The OG of Cannes, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, debutant Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, Nitanshi Goel, and others were in attendance. Films including Karan Johar and Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, Anupam Kher’s upcoming directorial Tanvi the Great, and a restored classic, Satyajit Ray’s Aranyer Din Ratri, were premiered at the event and received thunderous standing ovations from the attendees. The presence of Bollywood stars at Cannes this year created a buzz and heightened anticipation for next year.
