Actress Celina Jaitly is quite active on social media and keeps on sharing small notes about her personal life. The mother of three has recently opened up about a very delicate and personal chapter of her life. Celina Jaitly, a mother of three kids, took to her Instagram to share the journey of going through a rare liver condition during both her pregnancies. She shared that she was diagnosed with Cholestasis, a little-known but life-threatening complication. Sharing her pictures with her babies, she penned a note with a title that read, ‘When the Itch Could Have Taken My Babies: My Battle With Cholestasis.’
Celina Jaitly’s note read, “I was born with a rare genetic gift, a tendency to hyperovulate. I had two spontaneous twin pregnancies, a trait passed down through generations of women in my family. I later learned my mother too had carried twins after my brother & me, babies she tragically lost after a fall in Ranikhet. Even my great-great-grandmother died from complications during a twin pregnancy. Both my pregnancies were overwhelming. I had gestational diabetes, severe SPD, and in both, I developed #cholestasis of Pregnancy, a rare liver condition more common in twin pregnancies. It nearly broke me.”

Cholestasis isn’t “just a pregnancy itch.” It’s a warning from your liver that something’s wrong.” She also stated the importance of being kind and compassionate during these times. The note continued, “After my wonderful gynaecologist diagnosed me, I was referred to a hepatologist a Jordanian Dr who held my hand in a Dubai hospital and said a prayer. A man of science and faith. That moment of compassion stayed with me and reminded me of how important compassion is to a patient.”
Concluding her heartfelt note, Celina Jaitly urged the expecting mothers to be vigilant. She expressed that silence can never save any mother, but spreading awareness can. She also added a disclaimer stating that this is her personal experience, but every woman must consult her healthcare provider or trusted doctor.
