Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming movie Spirit came under the limelight when the reports of Deepika Padukone making an exit from the film surfaced on social media. As per the reports, Deepika made a firm decision to step out of the cast due to the mismatched demands. Several sources state that the actress demanded an 8-hour shift, exemption from Telugu dialogues and some part of the profit made by the movie. While neither Deepika nor Sandeep has made any official statement regarding the same, this news sparked an online debate regarding whether her demands are reasonable or not.

Actress Madhoo Shah, in this regard, defended Deepika’s decision and said during an interview with News 18 Showsha, “Deepika is a new mother; she needs time, and she asked for it. The person on the other side didn’t accept, so that didn’t work out. If Deepika wanted the movie so bad, and was willing to make other arrangements, she would have accepted it. But she did not, and that’s her personal choice. So, I don’t see a big reason for debate.”

The actress also spoke about the importance of knowing your worth and the internal communication in the industry. She expressed, "I applaud today's women who question, because it makes it easy for the people who are following them. It is not about having conflicts and constantly fighting. Everything in life is negotiation, and one must know their worth."

Amid this controversy, some condemned Deepika’s work ethic, while other prominent industry figures, including Mani Ratnam, Ajay Devgn, and Neha Dhupia, showed support for her decision.
