Housefull 5 was widely released in theatres on June 6 with two different endings. Starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan, the film has generated a decent amount at the box office. However, it has become embroiled in controversy for its objectification of women. The film has also received backlash over its sexist humour. After director Tarun Mansukhani addressed the issue, actress Chitrangda Singh has now reacted to the matter, stating that every film has its own style and tone of dialogue when it comes to humour. Amid the trolling, she still referred to Housefull 5 as a family entertainer.
Chitrangda shared her thoughts on people's perceptions after watching Housefull 5, especially regarding the portrayal of women. In an interview with Zoom, she stated, “I do think Housefull 5 is a family entertainer. Yes, there are jokes and humour that people might not enjoy as much, but I feel every film has its own tone and metre of what the dialogues are and what the tone of the film is. This is that kind of film. Then there’s Hera Pheri, Golmaal and many more. Every film has its own metre when it comes to humour."
Reacting to the criticms, the actress continued, “If you go with your friends, you will have fun. Every family also has different dynamics. It is for you to go and find whether you like it or not. Everyone is entitled to have an opinion, I am not defending anything."
To further defend her movie, she stated example of Akshay starrer Airlift. Chitrangda added, “Adam Sandler’s You Don’t Mess with the Zohan and Pink Panther have a certain tone of humour. I don’t think it should be judged in the same manner. Every film can’t be an Airlift, and an Airlift can’t be a Housefull 5."
Helmed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5, which marked the fifth instalment in the hit franchise, which debuted in 2010. The movie starring Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangda Singh and veterans like Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Johny Lever, and Sanjay Dutt.

Since its arrival on the big screen, some users have not been happy with how the comedy movie portrayed its female stars, especially Soundarya Sharma. Many showed sympathy toward her, as comments like “She’s not a nepo kid. It’s a big deal for her to be in a star-studded movie. Speaking against the film could mean losing future opportunities,” and “The sole purpose of her character was to be objectified” have circulated online.
