About Coolie: Coolie is a 2025 Indian Tamil-language action thriller directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures. The film stars Rajinikanth in the lead, alongside an ensemble cast featuring Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and Rachita Ram, with special appearances by Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde. The story follows a former coolie union leader who sets out to investigate his friend’s mysterious death, uncovering a powerful crime syndicate in the process.

Initially announced in September 2023 under the working title Thalaivar 171 to mark Rajinikanth’s 171st film as a lead actor, the official title Coolie was revealed in April 2024. Filming began in July 2024 in Chennai, with additional schedules in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur and Bangkok, before wrapping up in March 2025.
