Genelia Deshmukh recently addressed the bizarre rumours about her career that she and John Abraham were accidentally married on the sets of Force (2011). There were speculations at that time that a real priest was brought on the sets to perform a wedding scene between the duo with rituals like mantras, garlands, magalsutra and saath pheras, which resulted in marriage. Over a decade later, Genelia cleared the air and stated that there is no truth to it. The stories were spread by PR.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Genelia said, “There was no truth to it. We didn’t get married. These stories were spread by PR and I think you should ask them why they did it.” Genelia and John never reacted to the rumours before. The actress is now married to Riteish Deshmukh. The couple has two children-Riaan and Rahyl. On the other hand, John is married to Priya Runchal since 2014.
In a recent interview with Zoom, Genelia talked about taking break from acting after marriage. She said, “Most people ask me if it’s easy to step away from the limelight for 10 years and I said, ‘It’s what I wanted to do, so I did it.’ I saw a place after 10 years and I am happy in that place. I may not do 10 films, I may do three films, but my happiness is with that and that’s what matters the most.”
On the work front, Genelia Deshmukh will be next seen in Sitaare Zameen Par. The movie also features Aamir Khan, Dolly Ahluwalia, Brijendra Kala, Ayush Bhansali, Simran Mangeshkar, Gurpal Singh, Gopi Krishna Varma, Ashish Pendse, Rishabh Jain, Raju Rishi Shahani and Aroush Datta in pivotal roles. It has been directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Ravi Bhagchandka and Aparna Purohit. Sitaare Zameen Par is the official adaptation of 2018 Spanish movie Champions. The film has a runtime of 158 minutes. Sitaare Zameen Par has been made on a budget of Rs 80 crore.
