Actress Pratibha Ranta has reportedly grabbed a new opportunity in the upcoming Bollywood biggie Dostana 2. This came after the success of her latest film Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao. According to the latest speculations, Ranta has replaced Janhvi Kapoor in the aforementioned film. The movie also stars Lakshya and Vikrant Massey as male leads. However, Dostana 2 was first announced with actors Kartik Aaryan, Lakshya and Janhvi. Now, fans await the official statement by the makers.

The script of Dostana 2, a spiritual sequel to the 2008 rom-com Dostana starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham, has reportedly been reworked following Kartik Aaryan’s exit from the project. As per reports, the revamped version will now feature Ranta alongside Massey and The Ba***ds of Bollywood actor.

About Pratibha Ranta: Pratibha Ranta is an Indian actress known for her work in Hindi films and TV. She debuted with the soap opera Qurbaan Hua and broke out with the 2024 film Laapataa Ladies, earning her the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female.

Pratibha Ranta began her acting career with the TV series Qurbaan Hua (2020-2021), playing Chahat opposite Karan Jotwani. She then made her web debut with Aadha Ishq, portraying Rene Bhardwaj alongside Darsheel Safary and Gaurav Arora. Although her performance received praise, her character was deemed "cliched" and "confusing" by Archika Khurana of Times of India.

Ranta transitioned to films with Laapata Ladies (2024), playing dual roles of Jaya and Pushpa, a swapped bride. The same year, she appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's series Heeramandi as Shama, a courtesan's daughter, though her role was reportedly limited.
