Farhan Akhtar is all set to return to the big screen with the much-awaited movie 120 Bahadur after his long acting hiatus. His last appearance was in Toofaan, which was released in 2021. Now, he is back with a powerful role of Major Shaitan Singh in the war movie, which highlights the bravery and sacrifice, blending patriotism and deep emotions. The makers unveiled the teaser of 120 Bahadur today and it has been trending online. At the launch event, Farhan revealed why it took him so long to return to acting. He shared how he always strives to deliver films that are more than just entertainment.
Farhan Akhtar On Returning To Acting With 120 Bahadur
Farhan was present at the teaser launch of 120 Bahadur with co-stars and the team in Mumbai on Tuesday. During the event, when he was asked if he needed a good script to make a return to movies. To this, the actor-director responded and told News 18, "At some level, it is true. I take films very seriously. I always try and give the audience more than just entertainment. Of course, entertainment is important — it’s a part of coming to the theatre and having a community experience of watching something — but to me, I feel like there has to be something more over and above that. You can just call me fussy, for the lack of another word. I waited for this to come along."
Further shedding light on his decision, he referenced his 2013 biopic on legendary Milkha Singh, which became a blockbuster. He added, "The last time I felt like I really needed to tell a story was when Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra came to me with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag."

About 120 Bahadur Movie
Directed by Razneesh 'Razy' Ghai, 120 Bahadur is backed by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar with Excel Entertainment banner and Amit Chandrra (Trigger Happy Studios). The film is scheduled to hit theatres on November 21, 2025.
The movie brings the story of 120 Indian soldiers, who fought against Chinese troops during the 1962 Sino-Indian War to protect the potential occupation of the Ladakh region in the Battle of Rezang La. This film brings together all the sacrifices and untold stories of the soldiers.
Meanwhile, on the directorial front, Farhan will be coming with Don 3 featuring actor Ranveer Singh in the lead role.
