Bollywood singer Guru Randhawa has deactivated his X (formerly known as Twitter) account after he took an indirect dig at Diljit Dosanjh over casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. The backlash is the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack (April 22). In his tweet, Randhawa did not take Diljit’s name, but netizens were sure that his Tweet was for the latter. In the Tweet, Guru wrote, “Lakh pardesi hoyieee. Apna desh nhi bhandi daa. Jehre mulk da khayie us da bura nhi mangi da. Even if now your citizenship is not Indian but you were born here pls remember this. This country made great artists and we all are proud of it. Pls be proud of where you were born. Just an advice. Now don't start controversy again and manipulate indians LOL. PR bigger thn artist.” The post soon went viral on social media, creating a buzz over the statement. Now, the singer has deactivated the account.

Diljit Dosanjh starrer Sardaar Ji 3 came across several controversies after its trailer featured Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) banned Pakistani artists from working in India after the Pahalgam attack. The film body earlier also urged the government not to release the movie. After this Diljit, who is also the producer of the movie, decided to skip the film’s release in India. Notably, the film made its theatrical debut overseas. Earlier, he defended his decision to release the movie, Diljit told BBC Asian Network that he invested a lot of money in this film. The shooting was done much before the attack happened in India.
