Hera Pheri 3: Paresh Rawal officially walked away from the much-anticipated Hera Pheri 3, starring Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. As per the latest reports, the actor has returned the signing amount to the makers of the film as he concluded his involvement in the anticipated sequel. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the actor has returned Rs 11 lakhs (his advance payment) along with 15 per cent annual interest and added a little more money to settle the matter amicably with Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films, the producer of Hera Pheri 3. A source told the portal, “Paresh Rawal has returned the signing amount of ₹11 lakhs with 15% p.a. interest and also a little more money for stepping away from the series.”
The reports further claimed that Paresh had promised a hefty amount of Rs 15 crore for the movie. However, the annual clause in the agreement stipulated that the remaining amount, which is Rs 14.89 crore, would be given only a month after the release of the movie. According to new reports, Paresh Rawal decided to exit as the makers had decided to shoot the film next year with a potential release in late 2026 or 2027. The reports suggest that Rawal chose to exit rather than wait for his payment. After which, Akshay Kumar’s production allegedly took legal action against the actor, seeking damages of Rs 25 crore.
Hera Pheri was initially released in theatres in 2000, making it a blockbuster at the time. The movie also starred Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty in the lead roles. The comedy film became a cult movie for its storyline and its performance. After its huge success, the second part of the film Phir Hera Pheri was released in theatres in 2006 with the same cast. The sequel had a box office collection of Rs 69.12 crore.
