Mammootty’s highly anticipated Malayalam film Kalamkaval got a new release date. In a new poster, the actor can be seen lighting up a cigarette while sitting like a king. The poster has been generating as the new release date, which is December 5. Yes, Kalamkaval is all set to be released in theatres in December. The makers of the film shared the news on its social media handles. It read, “We know you've waited long.. The wait will be worth it... 🔥 #Kalamkaval In Cinemas Worldwide from December 5, 2025 Keep Calm and wait for him.”

Kalamkaval was expected to be one of the biggest releases in November but it took an unexpected turn. Earlier, Mammootty and Vinayakan’s movie was scheduled to be released on November 27. However, unfortunately, the film was delayed. Mammootty Kampany announced the postponement through its official social media handles and wrote, “Delayed, NOT Diminished. We hear you… The wait is noted. The Venom Beneath Will Arrive Soon !! #Kalamkaval Release Postponed, New Release Date will be Announced Soon !!”

With the new release date, Mammootty’s Kalamkaval will have a massive clash with Ranveer Singh's starrer Dhurandhar. The Hindi film also features Sara Arjun, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt in key roles. It has been directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Aditya Dhar, Jyoti Deshpande, and Lokesh Dhar. Dhurandhar has been creating a buzz since the trailer was released. It would be interesting to see which movie will take the lead at the box office.

On the other hand, Kalamkaval’s trailer gave a hint of another magnum opus. The trailer opens with a striking line delivered by SJ Ethan- “The venom beneath can’t be suppressed forever.” It featured a violent confrontation between two youngsters in Kottayikonam on the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border. A small clash turned into a full communal breakdown, which led the Kerala Police Special Investigation Team to intervene in the case. It shows Vinayakan and Jibin Gopinath as officers, who navigate forests and remote homes while hunting a key suspect. Mammootty holding a cigarette in hand, asks “Do you know what gives the greatest pleasure when you kill it?” The scene has created a storm on social media. Kalamkaval also stars Meera Jasmine, Gayathri Arun, Vinayakan, Jibin Gopinath and Biju Pappan. Directed by debutant Jithin K Jose and backed by Mammootty Kampany.
