Karisma Kapoor’s children- Kiaan (son) and Samaira (daughter) have approached the Delhi High Court to demand a share in the assets of their late father Sunjay Kapur. In the suit, both Samaira and Kiaan claimed that their stepmother, Priya Sachdev, forged their father’s will. The suit mentions, “The Plaintiffs submit that the purported will allegedly executed by the Plaintiffs’ father is not a legal and valid document, is forged and fabricated and in any event surrounded by suspicious circumstances. It is for this reason that neither the original of the Alleged Purported Will has been shown to the Plaintiffs nor a copy of the Alleged Purported Will has been provided.”
Karisma Kapoor’s children also requested the court to restrain Priya Sachdev from executing the will till the time the issue is resolved. After Kaur’s death in London on June 12, 2025, new developments have emerged about the Rs 30,000 crore inheritance dispute. Reports suggested that the actress is exploring legal options to claim a share of husband’s estate.
Another twist to the case is Safira, the daughter of Sunjay’s third wife, Priya Sachdev has dropped her surname ‘Chatwal’ and adopted ‘Kapur’. Some reports claimed that it is a strategic move, potentially aimed at strengthening her stake in the inheritance.

In a recent interview with Republic, Sunjay’s sister, Mandhira Kapur said that her mother was forced to sign legal papers by several people including Priya Sachdev. She said, “What papers are they not showing us that they’d gotten signed in this 13-day period that they’ve taken over? My mother was made to sign papers behind locked doors. And this wasn’t once, but twice. I was standing at the door banging on it. She was grieving.”
“There were two doors, actually a door inside and a door outside. So she couldn’t hear me. The bottom line is she signed some papers during the mourning period. She was in deep grief. She came to me and said, ‘I don’t know what papers I’ve signed. And since then, we’ve been asking and getting no response. So, what are you hiding from us? I think this will all unfold at some point, and the truth will come out,” she then added.
