Yuzvendra Chahal’s personal life has grabbed several eyes over the past few months. The famous cricketer’s divorce from popular choreographer Dhanashree Verma took the initial spotlight. Then, his close bond with rumoured girlfriend RJ Mahvash became a hot topic for netizens. Their public appearances and social media posts highlighted their close relationship. Chahal recently celebrated his birthday, and a viral video showing him sharing a tight hug with Mahvash also made headlines.
While Yuzvendra Chahal has maintained his silence about his divorce from ex-wife Dhanashree Verma, the Indian bowler recently spoke about it on Raj Shamani’s podcast channel. He expressed how he had been facing problems in his marriage for a couple of years, but never said anything publicly, as both of them were unaware of their future together. He said, “It had been going on for a while, but we decided that we don’t want to show the world what’s happening until something gets finalised.”
On being asked about whether they were faking their relationship towards the end or not, Chahal simply nodded in agreement. He further continued to share his need for a long break from cricket as he was not able to focus on his work. Yuzvendra Chahal’s relaxed behaviour made people assume that he was happy and satisfied with his divorce.
On the other hand, many people accused him of cheating as well after his multiple public appearances with RJ Mahvash. Addressing this, Chahal answered, “And I have never cheated in my life. I am not that person. You will never find anyone as loyal as me. For a few months, I was depressed. I got anxiety attacks but only my close ones know about that. I used to have suicidal thoughts because my mind had stopped working. My family, Mahvash helped me during this phase.”
Yuzvendra also addressed the issue which buzzed during one of his divorce hearings. He wore a t-shirt that read ‘be your own sugar daddy,’ and netizens interpreted it as an indirect jibe towards Dhanashree Verma. “Kyunki saamne se kuch cheez hua tha, aur mera pehle mann nahi tha. Fir saamne se kuch hua toh fir maine kaaha ab sambhaal lo, ab mujhe nahi parwah kisi ki. Maine na kisi ko abuse kra, bus mujhe message dena tha,” he explained.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma married in 2020, after the cricketer enrolled himself in her dance classes during Covid-19. But soon, cracks started to appear in their relationship, and the duo finalised their divorce in the year 2025.
