Mouni Roy Calls Smriti Irani And Ektaa Kapoor ‘Family’; Says ‘ I Remember Getting Books, Ice Cream…’

Mouni Roy, who recently featured in Salakaar, talked about Smriti Irani’s comeback on Television with the second season of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The actress got nostalgic as she was part of the first season and recalled the times when she used to get books and ice creams whenever she was sad on sets. Roy also called Irani and Ektaa Kapoor, the mastermind behind cult show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, her family. In a recent interview, she referred to Smriti Irani as ‘didi’ and stated how excited she was when she heard about the latter's return to the acting world.

In a chat with Zoom, Mouni revealed that she has not had the chance to fully catch up the new episodes. She said, “I’ve actually seen two in bits and pieces.” When she was asked about Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’s return, Mouni said, “I was very excited. It’s my Smriti ‘Di’ coming back and my Ekta ‘ma’am.’ They’re practically family. When you started that young with people like that. I still remember her getting me books and giving me ice cream on the day that I was sad. So we go back that many years, and I was very excited.”

Mouni revealed that Smriti herself is equally thrilled for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’s return. She added, “In fact, she’s also very excited for the show.”
