Filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt has finally broken his silence about not being invited to his niece Alia Bhatt’s wedding with Ranbir Kapoor, revealing that he felt deeply hurt to have missed one of the most special days in her life. The revelation has sparked renewed curiosity about the long-standing rift between the Bhatt brothers Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt, who co-founded Vishesh Films and delivered some of Bollywood’s most successful hits together. Mukesh expressed both affection and pain as he opened up about his strained family ties and his wish to see Alia’s daughter, Raha Kapoor, for the first time.

In a recent interview with Lehren Retro, Mukesh Bhatt admitted he felt bad about not being part of Alia’s big day. “I will be a hypocrite if I say I didn’t feel bad. Of course, I felt bad. I love Alia a lot and not just her, even Shaheen. So when she got married, I thought meri bachi ki shaadi hai. I really wanted to be there,” he shared. The filmmaker revealed that despite the emotional distance, his affection for his nieces remains unchanged. He added that he has always considered Alia close to his heart and has watched her rise with immense pride.

Meanwhile, the Raaz movie maker also revealed that he has not met Alia and Ranbir’s daughter Raha Kapoor, who turned three this year. Expressing his longing to see her, he said, “When I got to know that Alia was pregnant and then had a baby, meri aankhein taras gayi Raha ko dekhne ke liye. I love kids a lot.” Mukesh explained that he chose not to reach out to Alia after Raha’s birth to avoid making her feel uncomfortable, given the current family situation. “I didn’t even try because I didn’t want to put her in a position of discomfort. I blessed them from my heart, dil se dua de di,” he said. Despite family tensions, Mukesh Bhatt maintains his fondness for Alia and continues to wish her well. As he said lovingly, “I may not have been there physically, but my blessings have always been with her.”

Mukesh And Mahesh Bhatt Rift

The emotional distance between the brothers reportedly began in 2021, when Mukesh announced that Vishesh Films would now be managed by his children, Sakshi and Vishesh Bhatt. Though he clarified that there had been no conflict and it was a “peaceful separation,” Mahesh Bhatt later hinted otherwise, indirectly referring to disagreements over creative and moral directions of the company. The two have since worked independently, marking the end of one of Bollywood’s most iconic partnerships behind hits like Aashiqui, Raaz, Murder, and Gangster.
