Amidst the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane’s pictures were removed from the movie’s album covers on YouTube Music and Spotify. Hocane played the lead role in Bollywood blockbuster movie Sanam Teri Kasam, alongside Harshvardhan Rane, who has reacted to the news. Rane took to his Instagram account and reshared viral a post that read, “Removed from the film that made her. Mawra Hocane erased by the nation she forgot to respect.”

Harshvardhan Rane welcomed the decision and wrote, “National weeding,” as a reaction to the reshared post on his IG Story.

Sanam Teri Kasam producer Deepak Mukut, who was  unaware about Marwa’s removal from the film’s album covers, said in a conversation with HT, “They didn’t ask me, it’s their decision. Whatever our government says, everyone has to follow.” Meanwhile, Rane said, “Now they’ll say my PR team did this! But again, I assume it’s just common sense—looks like some weeding is being done.”

Earlier, Rane bashed Hocane for her derogatory remarks on India amid the ongoing tensions with Pakistan. He wrote on his IG Story, “While I am grateful for the experience however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated.”

“I respect all artists and humans of this country, that country, Kenya and even Mars, but this kind of derogatory remark about my country by anyone is unpardonable. Am okay with losing out on followers on Instagram, but won’t allow anyone to walk over the pride and upbringing. Standing by your country is good, but disrespectful, hate remarks about other country is not,” he went on to state.
