Wamiqa Gabbi has garnered a lot of attention after the release of her film, Bhool Chuk Maaf. The actress has paved her way in the industry by starting working from a very young age. Since she belongs to a non-filmy background, Wamiqa is slowly carving her space into Bollywood with her hard work and talent. In a recent interview with Zoom, she spoke about the existence of pay disparity and said, “The fact that pay disparity exists doesn’t consume me, but there is this feeling that you’re a woman and you will be paid less and that is how it is. The reasoning is that a male actor can pull that much audience, but you can’t make a film without the heroine.”
Wamiqa also pointed out how she fails to understand the need for this difference. “I don’t understand the logic behind this. Sometimes, they take a hero and pay a lot of money, and then the film doesn’t work. Why doesn’t their fees get affected?” Wamiqa said. The gorgeous actress also mentioned how despite being a talented woman who holds a big screen impact gets paid less as compared to other male actors.

She added, “I want to find different ways to earn that money. I wish to do it in a creative way where I feel happier and decrease that pay gap for myself. I can’t deny this fact that pay disparity is there. Not every ‘male-centric’ film can do without the female lead.”
On the work front, Wamiqa was recently seen in Bhool Chuk Maaf opposite Rajkummar Rao. The film also starred Seema Pahwa, Sanjay Mishra and Ishtiyak Khan. The producer of the film is Dinesh Vijan and was produced under his banner Maddock Films.
Reportedly, after Bhool Chuk Maaf, Wamiqa has Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling as her next project starring Jaya Bachchan and Siddhant Chaturvedi. She will also be seen with Akshay Kumar, Tabu and Paresh Rawal in Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla.
