Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao surrendered before a court in Jalandhar on July 28 in connection with the case of the 2017 film Behen Hogi Teri. The actor, who was accused of hurting religious sentiments in the movie, got a conditional bail after a long-running case. The case ignited from a complaint alleging that a scene in the film where Rajkummar appeared as Lord Shiva riding a bike, offended the religious sentiments of people. After 8 years, the matter has been adjourned in the court and the next hearing is set for July 30.

What Is The Controversy Of Rajkummar Rao Related His 2017 Movie Behen Hogi Teri?

The film was criticised when the poster for it was released in April 2017. It featured Rajkummar Rao dressed up in Lord Shiva’s dress, who sat on a silver motorbike (with Uttar Pradesh number plate). Rao wore moon‑crescent and rudraksha beads. This led to strong public outrage in Jalandhar, where a complaint was filed alleging hurt sentiments. After which, director Ajay K Pannalal and producer Tony D'Souza were arrested on May 26, 2017. They were later granted bail.

The case was filed in 2017 by Ishant Sharma, a Hindu leader and film producer at Police Division No. 5 in Jalandhar. In his complaint, he mentioned that Lord Shiva was depicted in a ‘disrespectful’ manner in the movie. He claimed that it was offensive and hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community.
