Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra maintain a private life, away from the media glare. Rani recently shared the reason why they want to keep their daughter, Adira, away from the public eye as well. The National award-winning actress said that it is the collective decision of her and Aditya Chopra to give their daughter a normal life without being exposed to the media at a young age. She also shared her belief that her daughter should achieve everything in life based on her merit.
In a conversation with ANI, Rani Mukerji said, “We have the same philosophy for our daughter as well. We did not want her to ever be in a situation where she is overexposed. That she should feel there is anything special going on with her.”
“Because when she grows up, when she chooses a profession that she needs to choose, then whatever she earns, the recognition will be earned through her merit. She doesn't earn the recognition because she has famous parents. She should earn that herself; it should not come to her as taken for granted,” she added. The actress stated that Adira has taken to her father’s path when it comes to privacy as a strong point of view, which will help her express her views with age.

Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra tied knot in 2014 and the couple welcomed their daughter in 2015. The actress, who won the National Award this year for Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, recently shared that her daughter wanted to accompany her to the event but could not due to her age. At an event in Delhi, Rani said, “She (Adira) was howling. She wanted to be a part of the National Awards function. We were told that children below 14 weren't allowed. I had to tell her that she couldn't be with me, and she said that's so unfair, because 'I am the happiest for you, and I've also made a painting for you on your special day'. And I told her, 'Don't worry, I will have you with me on my special day'.” Rani also shared that she was wearing a necklace which had her daughter’s initials. The videos of the same went viral. The actress added, “She’s my lucky charm. I wanted her with me, and this was the closest I could do. I want to thank everyone who made those reels and snippets on Instagram, writing that ‘Rani carried her daughter along.’ I showed them to Adira, and it calmed her down.”
