Ranveer Singh visited the Chamundeshwari Devi Temple in Mysuru on Tuesday after facing controversy over his mimicry of a scene from Kantara. The actor performed special prayers following directions issued by the Karnataka High Court. The matter started after some members of the Kannada-speaking community accused him of hurting religious sentiments during an event held at the International Film Festival of India in Goa last year.

According to Reports, Ranveer Singh had filed an affidavit before the Karnataka High Court in April and offered an unconditional apology. Hearing the matter, the court asked the actor to visit the famous Chamundeshwari Temple and pray there within four weeks. The actor obliged and performed the rituals at the temple on Tuesday morning.

The visit was kept secret so as not to attract public attention. Ranveer Singh was first seen at Mumbai airport before leaving for Mysuru. He entered the temple premises wearing a face mask and took it off only after reaching the sanctum area for the prayer rituals. The temple authorities helped in completing the prayers peacefully without any disturbance.

Ranveer’s Apology Statement In Kantara Row
Responding to the backlash, Ranveer later shared an apology on Instagram. He wrote, “My intention was only to appreciate Rishab’s powerful performance. I deeply respect every culture, tradition, and belief in our country. If my act hurt anyone’s feelings, I sincerely apologise.”
Earlier this year, an FIR was registered against the actor for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. In February, Ranveer approached the Karnataka High Court seeking relief. The court had ordered authorities not to take any coercive action against him.
