Amid the buzz of India’s Got Latent 2, Comedian Samay Raina has found himself at the center of another social media controversy after an old clip from India's Got Latent resurfaced online. Although the video dates back to 2024, it has gone viral again, drawing criticism from many users. Several people have compared the joke to the recent Rs 370 Biryani controversy, arguing that it promotes a problematic mindset about relationships and consent.
Samay Raina Lands In Trouble Again For Viral Old Latent Video
The viral video is from a 2024 episode of India's Got Latent. During the show, a female contestant suddenly left after learning that her father had suffered a minor heart attack.
Her boyfriend stayed back and explained the situation. Responding to him, Samay Raina first joked and said, “Tu aise kaise bol sakta hai be. Her father got heart attack and you are casually sitting and saying Just a minor heart attack.”
Samay then jokingly said that he should go with her to give her a shoulder, then he would receive head in return. The audience laughed at the remark during the show, but the clip has now resurfaced and triggered criticism online.
This is peak unmaturity in boys these days.

Shiv Sena Leader Priyanka Chaturvedi Reacts To Samay Raina's Viral Video
After a clip from Episode 2 went viral, former rajya sabha member and Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi strongly reacted to it on X. She wrote, "No lessons have been learned. Now, even Netflix and YouTube are supporting this kind of cheap and misogynistic content in the name of humour. Now I just have to wait for their Gen Z fans to flood my comments and create a ruckus."

Reacting to her post, several users pointed out that the viral clip was old. One user commented, "Hi ma'am, this is an old video. Please watch the current one. He has toned down a lot now."
Another wrote, "You are just one year late to seek engagement farming." A third user commented, "Ma'am, this was from Season 1 and was already deleted. Ma'am, do your research before posting anything, nahi toh cool banane ke chakkar mein fool ban jayega."
No lessons learnt. But now backed by @NetflixIndia & @YouTube for broadcasting this trash misogynistic content masked as humour.

Social Media Users React On Samay Raina's Kandha Dega Joke
As the video spread across social media, many users also expressed disappointment over the joke. One user wrote, "Kandha dega tabhi toh head degi... This is not a joke. It's similar to the 'Rs 370 Biryani' statement, where someone expects access to another person's body in return for doing something" while the other commented, "peak heartlessness, people are laughing."
However, some users also supported Samay saying 'he was the only mature guy there.' Several others argued that jokes of this nature can reinforce unhealthy attitudes toward women and consent.

Why Samay Raina’s Joke Is Compared To 'Rs 370 Biryani' Controversy?
The backlash comes shortly after the viral Rs 370 Biryani controversy, in which a young man claimed that buying a woman biryani worth Rs 370 on a date meant he deserved something in return. The remark sparked widespread criticism, and he later apologized.
Many social media users are now drawing parallels between that incident and Samay Raina's old joke, saying both reflect a similar mindset of expecting intimacy in exchange for kindness or financial gestures.
