Renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been booked in Rajasthan following serious allegations from a Jodhpur-based producer. The complaint accuses Bhansali of cheating, breach of trust and even physical assault. The FIR, lodged late Monday at the Bichwal police station in Bikaner, also names Bhansali’s managers, Utkarsh Bali and Arvind Gill of Bhansali Productions, as co-accused in the case.
According to a report in Mathrubhumi.com, Prateek Raj Mathur, CEO of Radha Films and Hospitality, alleged he was initially appointed as the line producer for SLB's Love and War. Mathur claimed that he was later sidelined from the project without receiving any formal agreement or payment for his services.
Mathur stated that he even received an official email confirming his role, following which he took on significant responsibilities, including arranging government clearances, providing administrative support and ensuring security for the film crew during the August schedule in Bikaner. Despite these contributions, he alleged that Bhansali Productions abruptly dropped him from the project and further claims he was subjected to misbehaviour by members of the team at Hotel Narendra Bhawan on August 17.
The complaint further alleged that Mathur was pushed, insulted and even threatened with sabotage of his company’s future projects. Initially, the police had refused to register the case, prompting Mathur to approach the court, which then ordered the filing of an FIR. An investigation is now underway.
This is not the first time Sanjay Leela Bhansali has faced controversies in Rajasthan. His 2018 film Padmaavat had sparked violent protests prior to its release.
