Silambarasan TR’s Arasan Promo Out: The long-awaited promo for Arasan, directed by Vetri Maaran and starring Silambarasan TR, has finally been released, creating a major buzz among Tamil cinema fans. The five-minute promo, screened in select theatres across Tamil Nadu before dropping online, gives audiences a first look at what promises to be another powerful and gritty addition to the Vada Chennai universe. Written and directed by Vetri Maaran, Arasan stars Silambarasan TR in the lead role and appears to be set in the same world as the 2018 gangster drama Vada Chennai, which starred Dhanush.

Arasan’s promo opens with a glimpse into North Chennai’s raw underworld which is a setting Vetri Maaran is known for portraying with authenticity and intensity. Silambarasan TR is seen in a dual role, as a young, street-smart man with a stylish look, and as an older, greying gangster who is on trial for multiple murders. The courtroom scenes are particularly striking, with Silambarasan’s older character interacting with real-life director Nelson Dilipkumar, who plays himself. In a surprising meta moment, Silambarasan’s character asks Nelson to make a film about his life and even suggests Dhanush should play the lead. The promo ends with the line, “An untold tale from the world of Vada Chennai,” confirming its connection to the previous film.

Meanwhile, the music for Arasan is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his first collaboration with Vetri Maaran. Known for working with Santhosh Narayanan and GV Prakash in his earlier films, Vetri has chosen a new musical direction for this project. Produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu under V Creations, Arasan marks the first-ever collaboration between Vetri Maaran and Silambarasan TR. Interestingly, Silambarasan was initially considered for Vada Chennai before Dhanush took on the role of Anbu. Reports suggest that actors Kavin, Manikandan, Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani, and Kishore might also be part of the film, potentially reprising their roles from Vada Chennai.
