Sushmita Sen made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win the title of Miss Universe and today May 21, 2025, she marked 31 years of the historic win. To commemorate this milestone, the actress shared a heartfelt post on social media, reminiscing about her journey and the impact it had on her life. The Main Hoon Na actress took to Instagram and shared some throwback pictures early this morning from her Miss Universe experience, including the moment she was crowned.
Sushmita Sen captioned the post starting with, "21st May 1994 #Manila. A historical win that introduced an 18yr old Indian girl to the Universe!!!" Reflecting on her journey, the Aarya actress said, "Opening up a world of possibilities, highlighting the strength of hope, the power of inclusion, the generosity of love… To travel the world & to have the privilege of meeting some of the most inspiring people…life defining for sure!!!" She expressed her gratitude to God and her parents, saying, "Happy 31st Anniversary of India’s first ever victory at Miss Universe!!! To have the honour of representing my country, I will proudly cherish forever!!!".

Sushmita also extended her wishes to her loved ones in the Philippines and thanked her darling Carolina Gomez, saying, "Happy 31st also to my loved ones in the #Philippines & to you, my darling @carogomezfilm #thinkingofyouall & #celebratingyou." She ended the post with a message of hope and inspiration, saying, "Here’s to dreams, the impossible kinds…for I know, the UNIVERSE conspires in our favour!!
