Actress Swara Bhasker, who has long been a vocal advocate for various social and humanitarian causes, recently found herself at the center of a brewing digital controversy following the release of a video showcasing her Iftaar preparations. While the clip was intended to share a personal moment of Ramadan tradition, eagle-eyed social media users quickly pivoted the conversation away from the festivities and toward a specific Nestlé product visible in her kitchen.
Bhasker responded to the criticism on her Instagram handle and wrote, "I posted a couple of stories of my Iftaar preparation, which is the only thing I know how to do, which is make food cream, and of course I looked at some of your responses, and I noticed that a lot of you pointed out that Nestle is on the boycott list because of Palestine and their Zionist connections, and that I was using Nestle milkmaid, and to be honest, I didn't remember, and it didn't strike me."
She further added, "I am a big advocate of BDS and I try hard to practice it as much as I can, and especially look at the personal products we use. But I do struggle with some of them. I'm still learning. I just wanted to say thank you so much for pointing that out, and I will try and be as careful as I can."
Reacting to Swara's video, a netizen commented, "You are an inspiration Swara! Love you," another one wrote, "the very definition of trying to do better is this honest conversation. Kudos," a person commented, "Thank you to the ever-radiant @reallyswara for being one of the very few people of influence in India speaking up about this - and truly walking the talk," others also dropped similar reactions.
On the work front, Swara was recently seen with her husband Fahad Ahmad on the reality show Pati Patni Aur Panga and is now awaiting the release of her upcoming social comedy-drama Mrs Falani, in which she will play multiple roles across diverse regions and dialects.
