Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most loved comedy shows on Indian television. First aired in 2008, the sitcom has managed to stay close to the audience’s hearts for over 15 years. The show is based on the column ‘Duniya Ne Undha Chashma’ by Taarak Mehta and focuses on the residents of Gokuldham Society and their daily adventures. It features a wide range of quirky characters, but the most iconic of them all is Jethalal Champaklal Gada, played by the talented Dilip Joshi. His funny one-liners, expressions, and bond with his on-screen wife Daya, played by Disha Vakani, have made him a household name.

However, not many know that before Dilip Joshi took on the role, according to Pinkvilla several well-known actors were approached to play Jethalal. Here’s a look at five actors who turned down the chance to play this now-iconic role.
