Thalapathy Vijay is currently gearing up for his upcoming Tamil movie Jana Nayagan, which is slated to release on January 9, 2026. The movie holds an emotional significance in the hearts of the actor’s fans, as this project is going to be Vijay’s final outing on the big screen before he fully commits himself to politics. Over a career spanning three decades, the superstar has appeared in 69 movies, making him a superstar of the South film industry.
However, Thalapathy Vijay's much-anticipated movie Jana Nayagan landed a massive roadblock as it faced a delay in receiving thumbs up from the Central Board of Film Certification(CBFC).
On January 6, just a few days before the big release, the makers of the movie had to move to the Madras High Court to receive a green light, but to their disappointment, the hearing was adjourned until Wednesday, leaving makers and fans worried about the movie’s release.
According to NDTV, a new committee has been appointed to review the movie again with a fresh perspective. The movie was originally going to be released on January 9, but considering the current legal battle, the release may face a slight delay. During the last hearing, the court asked the makers the reason behind not postponing the release. The sudden ambiguity in the release has left Thalapathy Vijay's fans and theatre owners disappointed, as the bookings of the movie had already opened in some states.

The fans of both the actors are not thrilled about it and to express their disappointment, Thalapathy's fans were seen tearing down Parasakthi's banners after its trailer received more views on YouTube than Jana Nayagan.
During the release of Parasakthi's song, SivaKarthikeyan confirmed that he had a conversation with Thalapathy Vijay and both of them are fine with movies releasing on the occasion of Pongal.
