Thamma Box Office Collection Day 1: Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna starrer romantic horror comedy movie released in theatres on October 21 on the occasion of Diwali festivities. The film, which received mixed responses from the audience and the critics, opened with big numbers on a weekday (Tuesday). Being part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, the movie maintained its legacy to earn good numbers at the box office. Seeing the opening day collection, Thamma is expected to perform exceptionally well at the ticket windows.

As per Sacnilk, Thamma earned Rs 24 crore on Day 1. The film had an overall 34.50 per cent Hindi occupancy on Tuesday. It had 15.76 per cent occupancy in the morning shows, 39.81 per cent in the afternoon shows, 42.91 per cent in the evening shows and 39.50 per cent in the night shows.

According to reports, the film has been made on a budget of Rs 140 to 150 crore.
What Is Thamma All About?
The movie is about two destined lovers battling with supernatural powers and nature to defend their forbidden romance in a mystical world where ancient powers and prophecies threaten to keep them apart. Thamma stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Sapthami Gowda, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Shardul Rana, Faisal Malik and Vinay Pathak in pivotal roles. The romantic horror comedy movie has been directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Amar Kaushik, Dinesh Vijan under the production banner of Maddock Films. It has a runtime of 2 hours and 48 minutes.

Earlier, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Ayushmann Khurrana stated that the movie is based on Betalism and not vampires. He said, “Hum isko bolte hain betaalism (We call this Betalism). Betaal hai, vampire nahi (It's betaal and not vampire). It’s based on Indian folklore. 'Thamma' humare film ka naam hai; Ashvatthama se iska (Our film's title is 'Thamma', which has been derived from Ashwatthama). Thamma from Ashvatthama, Dinesh Vijan hain yeh. Unhone ne idea nikala, and the most powerful betaal is Thamma (Dinesh Vijan has thought of this idea, and hence the most powerful betaal is Thamma).”
