Vijay Deverakonda has often been hailed as the game changer of Telugu cinema, a title that reflects the impact he has made with his unconventional choices and magnetic screen presence. But in a recent interview, the star humbly shared his perspective on what that really means. “I don’t wake up thinking I have to be a ‘game changer’. I just choose stories that excite me, roles that challenge me a little, and that’s what ends up pushing boundaries. If it connects with people and shifts the way we look at cinema, that’s the real win,” he said, summing up his philosophy towards his craft.
What sets Vijay apart is that he doesn’t chase the tag, he earns it with every project. His filmography is proof of his fearless choices, whether it’s stepping into raw, complex characters or experimenting with stories that break away from formula. For him, it’s not about fitting into the mold of a star, but about constantly evolving as an actor and storyteller. That’s exactly why the audience sees him as a true disruptor in the industry.
At the core of it all, Vijay is a performer. Every time he’s on screen, he doesn’t just play a role, he lives it, and that sincerity is what resonates deeply with his fans. Each performance, whether intense, vulnerable, or rebellious, is celebrated not just as entertainment but as an experience. And it’s that commitment to authenticity that makes him not only a star but also the kind of artist who shifts cinema forward, one role at a time.
Recently, Vijay Deverakonda appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in a money laundering case linked to alleged illegal online betting and gambling platforms. The ED is investigating several celebrities and influencers who reportedly endorsed online betting apps like Junglee Rummy, JeetWin and Lotus365, suspected of generating illicit funds worth crores. Deverakonda, along with other actors like Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj and Lakshmi Manchu, was summoned by the ED as part of the probe. The agency recorded Deverakonda's statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
News agency ANI shared a video featuring Vijay Deverakonda entering the Enforcement Directorate office in Basheerbagh, Hyderabad.

As reported by ANI, speaking outside the ED office, Vijay Deverakonda stated, "This was about something I did back in 2016. On moral grounds, I did not continue with it and I didn’t take any payment either. I gave the officers all the information they needed. As a citizen, I believe in cooperating when the law calls." Vijay also clarified that there was no political motive or pressure involved in the summons.
