Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband and late businessman Sunjay Kapur passed away unexpectedly on June 12 this year while playing polo in London. His mother, Rani Kapoor, accused her daughter-in-law, Priya Sachdev, of defrauding him a few days after his death. The late businessman's sister also spoke against his third wife. Sunjay Kapur, whose fortune exceeded Rs 30,000 crore, was the head of the auto parts manufacturer Sona Comstar. His death erupted a family dispute over property and financial takeover.

Karisma Kapoor also reportedly requested her rights in the property during the sane time Sunjay Kapur's family dominated headlines over financial dispute. But did you know that following their divorce, the actor already received a sizable amount of alimony from the late businessman?

How Much Alimony Did Karisma Kapoor Get?

Sunjay Kapur and Karisma Kapoor's divorce was characterized by a great deal of accusations and mudslinging. The couple chose to settle their differences amicably after much drama, and in 2016 they were given a divorce. Following the divorce, Karisma was awarded a substantial sum of money in alimony.

Karisma Kapoor received an astounding Rs 70 crore in alimony from Sanjay Kapur. Additionally, he offered his children bonds totaling Rs 14 crore with a Rs 10 lakh interest payment. According to a report by Mid-Day - "Karisma will get Sunjay's father's house (in Khar) transferred in her name. Sunjay has to purchase bonds worth Rs. 14 crore for the children, which will attract a monthly interest of around Rs. 10 lakh."

Sona Comstar, based in Gurugram and with 12 manufacturing sites and more than 5,000 employees across India, China, Mexico, Serbia, and the US, is responsible for a significant portion of this. The electric vehicle (EV) market has given the company a significant boost in recent years.

Sanjay Kapur married former actor and socialite Priya Sachdev in 2017 following his divorce to Karisma. In fact before he married the leading star, he was married to renowned fashion designer Nandita Mahtani from 1996 until 2000. With Karisma, he has two children, and with Priya, he has a son named Azarias.
