Detective Sherdil OTT Release: After trying his hand at various genres since his Bollywood debut with Udta Punjab in 2016, Diljit Dosanjh is set to return to Bollywood with another comedy movie Detective Sherdil. After a long delay, latest reports claim that the movie will be released in June. Diljit in an earlier interview with Film Companion had stated that Detective Sherdil was due to premiere on Netflix. However, it seems that the movie has switched platforms.
Detective Sherdil, according to a post by CinemaRare on X (formerly Twitter) is finally set to release in June 2025 on Zee5. The caption of the post read, "Direct to Digital Release.. #DetectiveSherdil directed by #RaviChhabriya, produced by @aliabbaszafar, ft. @diljitdosanjh @vyas_sumeet @DianaPenty @BanitaSandhu @ChunkyThePanday & @bomanirani, premieres this June on @ZEE5India." Though the release date and OTT platform have not been officially confirmed yet, fans can expect the comedy to premiere directly on Zee5 in June.

On the other hand, when asked about how he came on board the project, Diljit in a 2023 interview with Film Companion said, "When he offered Detective Sherdil to me, I didn't ask him a single thing. He simply narrated its story, I didn't even read it. I just asked him whether he liked this story. He said, Yes, I want to make and film this story. And I came on-board right away."
About Detective Sherdil Movie
The Zee5 comedy Detective Sherdil also stars Sumeet Vyas, Boman Irani, and Banita Sandhu alongside Diljit Dosanjh. Ali Abbas Zafar has written and produced the film, while Ravi Chhabriya has directed it. Banita Sandhu is paired opposite the amateur detective played by Diljit Dosanjh, while Irani and Vyas's roles are still a mystery.
On the work front, Diljit Dosanjh is also gearing up for his upcoming movies Border 2, Sardar Ji 3 and Punjabi movie Ranna Ch Dhanna. Also, Banita Sandhu and Dosanjh have worked earlier together in their 2018 music video, Jind Mahi.
