New OTT And Theatrical Releases: Several new movies and web series are gearing up for their much-anticipated OTT release, while some are all set for their theatrical release. From Tehran to Coolie, WAR 2, among others, there is something to watch for everyone on OTT, as well as, theatres. So, grab your popcorn and get ready to watch some of the most-anticipated releases. Here is a list of new movies and web series that will premiere this Independence Day weekend:
New OTT And Theatrical Releases
Tehran (Zee5)
Tehran is one of the highly-anticipated movies of the year. The film stars John Abraham, Neeru Bajwa and Manushi Chillar in lead roles. Tehran is all set to stream on Zee5 from August 14, 2025. Tehran is based on the 2012 real-life attacks on Israeli diplomats.
War 2 (Theatres)
War 2 will release in theatres on August 14, 2025. He will star alongside Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani in Ayan Mukerji’s action-packed thriller under the YRF Spy Universe. War 2 is an action movie filled with larger-than-life fighting sequences. Talking about film’s action scenes, the director said, “Everything about ‘War 2’ has been crafted with a lot of planning to elevate the theatrical experience of the audience. The maximum time spent was on the action set pieces and crafting the storyline and the conflict, which was needed to mount the face-off between Hrithik Roshan and NTR.”
Coolie (Theatres)
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, Coolie is slated for a release on August 14, 2025, coinciding with Independence Day weekend. The film boasts a multi-star cast, including Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra and Sathyaraj. The trailer has generated significant buzz, with fans praising Rajinikanth's action-packed avatar and Lokesh Kanagaraj's direction.
Saare Jahan Se Accha (Netflix)
As per the official premise, the plot is set against the backdrop of the 1970s, when an Indian spy agent must defeat his counterpart across the border in a battle of wits and trade to sabotage a nuclear weapon. The show features Kunal Thakur, Anoop Singh, Amit Jha, Pratik Gandhi, Kritika Kamra, Rajat Kapoor, Tillotama Shome, Sunny Hinduja and Anup Soni in key roles. Saare Jahan Se Accha will premiere on Netflix from August 13, 2025.
Andhera (Prime Video)
The eight-episode series boasts an ensemble cast, including Priya Bapat, Karanvir Malhotra, Vatsal Sheth, Parvin Dabas, and Pranay Pachauri. Directed by Raaghav Dar and produced by Excel Entertainment, Andhera promises to deliver an intense and immersive experience that will linger long after the screen fades to black.
Andhera premieres on Prime Video on August 14, 2025.
Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 (Netflix)
In Wednesday Season 2, Jenna Ortega returns to Nevermore Academy, facing new foes, mysteries, and family drama. She navigates her psychic abilities, a new principal and a chilling supernatural mystery, all while dealing with old adversaries and unexpected events.
Wednesday Season 2 will be released in two parts. The first part is now streaming on OTT giant Netflix. However, fans will have to wait for Part 2, which will premiere on the platform on September 3, 2025.
